 Fall at Fiber Company

Change in weather, change in colors, change in temperatures!

New For Fall

Join us at Fiber Company to wrap up the warm weather and head to the fall of the year. This fall should be full of color, sunlight and all the best parts of the autumn. Fiber Company constantly carries a unique selection of hand-made items by partners in the shop along with a gallery of local artists' wares.

The wrap you see featured here is by Fiber Company partner Carolyn Glazener. You can see more of Carolyn's handwoven wraps, scarves and throws in the Fiber Company studio (often you can see Carolyn at work on something new and always exciting!) and you will be able to see Carolyn's booth at the upcoming Piedmont Craftsmen Fair in November one block from the Downtown Art District  and Fiber Company.

We're open regular hours and a few extra ones too!

Fiber Company is open for First Friday Gallery Hops and operates on the regular hours of 11-3 Tuesday, 11-5 Wednesday - Friday and 11-3 Saturday. We are also open by special appointment, too!
Find us on Facebook for some quick photos of our artwork and craft that comes into the studio and leaves so quickly!

Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate our 25th Anniversary in September. It was great to be able to share our love of fibers and give a few markdown prices too!

October gets us inspired for holiday shopping so plan to check in at the Gallery Hop and during the whole month of October. We carry the work of over 40 artists in our shop along with construction of our own wearables and home accessories in the shop year round.

With such a variety of fine craft- photography, ceramics, jewelry, handmade books and such variety of textiles- handwovens (of course!), silks that have been printed, painted, dyed and more, wearables, felted items-hats, purses and scarves to begin, we have something for everyone.

Thanks for shopping local!

We hope to see you soon.

If you have a special item you'd like to discuss be sure to call us at 336.725.5277 or email us at fibercompany@gmail.com.

Better yet stop by our Studio! on the corner of 6th and Trade in the heart of the art district.

September 25th Anniversary Celebration!

Sale Rack at Fiber Company

September Marks 25 years in the Art District!

And we are celebrating!

Please! Come Join us!

Wow. It is an amazing thing to know you've been doing something for 25 years. And Fiber Company has been a working textile studio for 25 years this month!

There have been some changes in folks that work in the space. I'm sure everyone remembers Linda Phillips and her lovely fluffy coats and much more. She shared her weaving skills with many fiber artists in the area and it is not unusual for those of us working in Fiber Company today to have someone come in and say with pride that they have a Linda coat. That classic design is still so wearable!

There are currently six fiber artists working here now, along with over 40 local artists consigning their individual creations with us. We've taken turns teaching at Sawtooth and other art schools in weaving, surface design, kids classes, arts in-education projects and more fun things. We've always had a great time being a part of the Downtown Art District, too. It's grown from the few shops that started back in the day to the strong part of our local economy it is today. What a trip to end up as part of the City of the Arts from moving our stuff into an old feed store built in the late 1800's to a location known as the "Heart of the Art District"!!!

For the month of September, we're celebrating! So please, stop in, say hi, try on some things, look over our inventory of Fiber Company partners' work and our wonderful local artists and join us in a celebration!

Hope to see y'all real soon!

Fiber Company has new summer hours!
Visit  our shop during our new summer hours on Tuesdays, from 11-3, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11-5, Saturdays from 11-3, First Friday Gallery Hops, special events and by appointment.
We've got some new fine craft in the shop- some new Wendy Lu dolls have come in and boy are they surprised to be here! cute young ladies with all the details in lovely cotton dresses. Not to be confused with the VooDoo dollies and those Demons in the cupboard.

We've been carrying graphite sculptures by A.S. Batle for a few years and he contines to come up with new subjects- this work is such fun. Cast graphite means you can write with it as if it were a big fat penci a hand pencil, snake pencil, flower pencil, bird pencil... as I said, lots of variety in subjects. And one of my personal favorites... the graphite is mixed with a polymer resin that makes it kind of like an m&m- doesn't rub off on your hand. These sculptures last an incredibly long time, are pretty durable *(you really can use them to write and draw!) and it's really rare someone already has one!

We've got some new jewelry in the shop, too. stop in and see the different styles- some are sparkly, some are semi precious stones, we've got metal pieces and more.
If you're lookong for a special summer journal, Sandy Mooney has some colorful ideas- small and large for big ideas or just the start of them.

Olivia has been making some new cuff style bracelets- hard to describe so you may want to come in and see. They have a variety of stones in different sizes and textures with lovely color ways. Check out her website at silkpeacock.com
After a marathon visit of family, Dee is back in town and always has projects going on- lately she's been crocheting some lightweight shawls.
Kathryn is working on a series of baby blankets- anyone you know need one? now is a good time to get on the list! and some painted warp experiments.
Carolyn has lovely throws in the shop- always great with color and texture, Carolyn's handweaving is soft and admired by customers every time they come in- many folks recognize her work from Piedmont Craftsmen fairs, too.
Jane has been working on her scarf inventory, along with all the other gazillion projects she has going on! One busy woman!
As soon as you step in our doors, Kay's scarves and hats are just to your left. And I see she's put a few things on our sale rack, too.

Hope you get a chance to stop in and cool off, check out our new items, the sale rack and catch up on our projects. Fiber Companyremains a working studio, with our floor looms making suspicious sounds to invite the folks below us!!!! and creating handwoven, handpainted adn hand-dyed textiles  daily.

Spring at Fiber Company

May we tell you what we have in the shop for May? ;)

May is a great month for us in many ways.. it's the month of Mother's Day- a time to celebrate your mom, your kids, nieces and nephews to celebrate moms.. just a lovely month! Full of memories, and we are all glad to have our families safe.
May is a colorful month. Flowers, trees, and the sunny blue sky are such inspiring colors.
May is a warm month and folks are out and about in the studio, in the Art District and downtown all day long and late into the evening. It's a great social time.

If you're out, stop in and say "hi!". We're open for the first Friday Gallery Hop in May with new silks, handwovens and more. If you're looking for a scarf, here are some ideas on ways to work the scarf! Hope you enjoy it! It may take a little practice but they are fun!

Hope to see you downtown soon.
We're open our regular hours of Tuesdays 11-3, Wednesdays - Fridays 10-5, Saturdays 11-3, first Friday Gallery Hops, for tours and those special College Sundays, and by appointment.
